The Republican Creed

I do not choose to be a common man.

It is my right to be uncommon.

If I seek the opportunity, not security, I want to take the calculated risk to dream & build, to fail & to succeed.

I refuse to barter inceptive for dole.

I prefer the challenges of life to guarantee security, the thrill of fulfillment to the state of calm utopia.

I will not trade the freedom for beneficence, nor my dignity for a hand out.

I will never cower before any master, save my God.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud & unafraid. To think & act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations; to face the whole world boldly say, "I am a free American."

The Republican Oath

I believe that the proper function of the government is to do for the people those things that have to be done, but cannot be done, or cannot be done as well as individuals, & that the most effective government is government closest to the people.

I believe that the good government is based on the individual & that each person's ability, dignity, freedom & responsibility must be honored & recognized.

I believe that free enterprise & the encouragement of individual initiative & incentive have given this nation an economic system second to none.

I believe that sound money policy should be our goal.

I believe in equal rights, justice & equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin.

I believe that persons with disabilities should be afforded equal

rights, equal justice & equal opportunity as well.

I believe we must retain those principles worth retaining, yet always be receptive to new ideas with an outlook broad enough to accommodate thoughtful change & varying points of view.

I believe that Americans value & should preserve their feeling of national strength & pride, & at the same time for peace & freedom & the extension of human rights throughout the world.

Finally, I believe that the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideas into positive & successful principles of government.
